Why ISPs

Approximately 3000 ISPs are registered in Ukraine. Most of them are small providers serving a few thousand subscribers.

In the early days of the Russian invasion and active hostilities, the infrastructure of the providers suffered significant losses – from providers' equipment to damaged cables.

In the very first days of the invasion, providers, risking their lives, were repairing trunk communication cables to ensure residents had access to the internet.

Irpin and Bucha, located ten kilometers from Kyiv, were attacked by the Russian army in an attempt to seize the capital in late February and early March 2022. Hundreds of local residents were killed in a month-long massacre orchestrated by the Russian military.
